Response to Christian book Satyadarshini abusing Hindu Gods

Spread The Word

Deepak Kamat, Editor in Chief of 'AseemaA', Journal for National Resurgence gives a befitting reply to the abuse of Hindu Gods in the book “Satyadarshini” by Anti-Hindu extremist Christian Taliban.

Kudos to Deepak for an apt response to these bigots.

Please read the excerpts from original book "Satyadarshini" here.

Abuse No. 1: Urvashi – the daughter of Narayana– is a prostitute. Vashitha is the son of this prostitute. He in turn married his own Mother. Such a degraded person is the Guru of the Hindu God Rama. (page 48)

Urvashi is not a prostitute. She is a celestial nymph. Secondly Vasistha was one of the Saptarishis (Seven Great Sages Rishi) in the seventh, i.e the present Manvantara,[1] and the Rajpurohit / Rajguru of the Suryavamsha or Solar Dynasty. He was the manasaputra of Brahma. He had in his possession the divine cow Kamadhenu, and Nandini her child, who could grant anything to their owners.

Vashisht is credited as the chief author of Mandala 7 of the Rigveda. Vashisht and his family are glorified in RV 7.33, extolling their role in the Battle of the Ten Kings, making him the only mortal besides Bhavayavya to have a Rigvedic hymn dedicated to him. Another immortal treatise dedicated by him to the humanity is “Vashisht Samhita” - a book on Vedic system of electional astrology (Muhurtha/ Muhurt)- based on which theory & principles of electional astrology have emanated & followed through millenniums & which have withstood test of the time.

Abuse no. 2: When Krishna himself is wallowing in darkness of hell, how can he enlighten others? Since Krishna himself is a shady character, there is a need for us to liberate his misled followers. (page 50)

Lord Krishna is considerd as an Avatar in Hindu pantheon. He is supposed to have lived around 5,200 years ago. Accordingly, he is supposed to reincarnate whenever adharma increases. There is no reference anywhere which says that he is in hell. I wonder, what divine wisdom the missionaries have when they can see somebody wallowing in hell.

Abuse no. 3: t was Brahma himself who kidnapped Sita. Since Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva were themselves the victims of lust, it is a sin to consider them as Gods. (page 39)

First of all, Ramayana can be interpreted anyway you want. In fact, the world is a divine illusion. Secondly, creation needs lust. Even the divine missionaries are a product of lust. Everyone has doubts about immaculate conception. I wonder how Jesus was born without pregnancy. It is all fancy stuff. Is it not?

Abuse No. 4: When the Trinity of Hinduism (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) are consumed by lust and anger, how can they liberate others. Their projection as Gods is nothing but a joke. (page 39).

Hinduism is not a single prophet/single book cult like Islam and Christianity. There are 84 schools of thoughts in Hinduism – of which even atheism is a part. Then there are other concepts like duality, non-duality and achintabheda tattwa (where the soul is neither dual nor non-dual). In Hinduism, worship and liberation is a personal affair. Nobody has the right to interefere in other’s mode of worship. There is something called as Vyakti Dharma. It is highly personal. No conversions and interference please.

Abuse No.5: Vishnu asked Brahma to commit a sin, he immediately did so. How can such a “evil brahma” be a Creator of this Universe? How is it possible for both the sinner and the entity which provoked the sin to be gods? (page 39)

First of all, there is no sin and no sinner. Sin is a Christian concept. Majority of Hindus consider the universe as leela (divine play). Though there are other variations too, most of the Hindus have pantheistic overtones. They don’t differentiate between the creator and the creation. Most of the Hindus are believers in oneness and pantheism. Note, it is not monotheism of the zealous semitic Gods.

Abuse No. 6: God, please liberate the sinful people of India who are worshipping False Gods that believe in the pleasures of illicit ‘Vyabichari’ relationships. (Page 39).

Swami Vivekananda described the people of India as children of immortality. (Amritasya Putraha). These are the lines from the Upanishads. The soul is not a sinner. It is a spark of the universal divinity. So there is no question of liberating sinners because sin does not exist in the first place. As for the so called “Vyabichar”, it is simple logic to say that the world would stop without sex. Sex is nothing but nature’s mechanism to ensure that individuals reproduce. In fact, we have a deity for sex (Kamadeva or Cupid) in Hinduism. Per se, sex is natural. However, Victorian sensibilities ensure that a lot of guilt is associated with it.

Archbishop of Mumbai Lies and Steals from Ved Upanishad

Archbishop of Mumbai Lies

I attended the Press Conference, held today (12th June 2009) at 3.30 p.m. at the Shanmukhananda Hall, King Circle, Mumbai, addressed by Kanchi Shankaracharya Swamiji and the Archbishop of Mumbai, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, subsequent to the Inter-Religious Dialogue held at the same venue.

After their Press Briefing, when question time arrived, I put a question to Cardinal Oswald Gracias: "In the Indian Community Bible released by Mumbai Catholic Church, you have included hundreds of verses from Vedas and Upanishads. Does this not amount to steeling the intellectual property of Hindus?". The answer given by the Cardinal was "I am not aware of this"

Now look at the press reports published by Mumbai newspapers datelined July 09, 2008, reproduced below:

==========

Mumbai, July 09, 2008: The Catholic Church has released a special Bible for India, one that has reference to Indian scriptures, uses Indian cultural and religious themes, and will appeal to the new generation.

The liberative knowledge of the spirit (atman) is to be attained through ‘seeing, listening, reflecting and meditating’ This verse from the hoary Brihadaranyaka Upanishad explains chapter 51 of the Book of Isaiah, in The New Community Bible (Catholic Edition) for India.

Church leaders called the book, that was released in Mumbai last month by the Archbishop of Bombay, Oswald Cardinal Gracias, "a work of lasting importance".

Christened the ‘Indian Bible’, the book is the culmination of a significant 18-year long experiment by the local Catholic Church to adapt the Bible for the Indian community.

Thus, apart from using Indian cultural and religious themes in the narrative, the book also uses English that is familiar to Indians, unlike the older editions of the holy book.

This Indianised bible also dipicts Virgin Mary in a sari and Joseph clad in a loincloth and turban.

============

Having himself released the Book - The New Community Bible - the Cardinal had the temerity to say that he was not aware of it, in the presence of about 30 journalists and photographers. If this is not a blatant lie, what is it?

My subsequent question was: "Does that mean that Bible was written by human beings, and has nothing to do with Jesus Christ?" His answer was: "It was spoken by the God and written by people".

1) US body should not interfere in Indian affairs: Shankaracharya
Pioneer, June 13, 209
TN Raghunatha | Mumbai

Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati on Friday vehemently opposed the impending visit of United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) to India, by saying that it was nothing but “an intrusive mechanism of a foreign Government to interfere in the internal affairs of this country”.

“Though the Indian Government has permitted USCIRF for sending its delegation to this country to hold meetings with our people to ascertain religious freedom in our country, the delegation should actually not be allowed to enter this country on this intrusive mission. We will not allow external interference into our internal affairs,” the Shankaracharya said.

The Shankaracharya was interacting with the mediapersons after initiating the inter-faith dialogue with Christian leaders, including a cardinal from Vatican City in Rome, Jean Louis P Tauran and Cardinal Oswald Gracias from Mumbai.

Held at that the Shanmukhananda Hall in central Mumbai, the inter-faith dialogue — aimed at sending a message of peace and harmony to the people — was along the lines of a similar move undertaken by the Pope Benedict XVI to hold talks with the chief of Rabbinate of Israel at Jerusalem on May 12,2009, to bolster religious tolerance between Jews and Catholics.

In a significant statement, the seer from the Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt voiced his opposition to “forceful conversion” by any religion. “It has become easy for the missionaries to convert Hindus. All Hindu organisations and associations should work together to educate Hindus and eradicate conversion activity. We have conveyed this message to Christian leaders in the meeting,” the Shankaracharya said.

Echoing the sentiments expressed by the Shankaracharya vis-à-vis “forceful conversion”, Mumbai’s Cardinal Oswald Gracias said: “We will not encourage any forceful activities. This message will reach all the Christian organisations.”

The Shankaracharya also exhorted the Churches and Christian groups to utilise the funds received by them from abroad for social causes and not for religious conversions.

“We know that very large amounts of money come into this country for Churches and Christian groups, ostensibly for charitable work. These funds should be used only for social causes like health, education etc and should not be used for religious conversion. The Christian organisations should also distribute the funds received from abroad among various charitable institutions irrespective of their religious faith,” the Shankaracharya said.

The Shankaracharya went on to add: “… the Hindu dharma and the Hindus welcome Christians, Muslims, Parsis and Jews to make this land their home. We expect that these religions will not seek to destroy our faith, religion and wound the religious sensibilities. We encourage all religions to live with mutual respect and harmony and in a shared sense of nationalism which should bind us all as one nation”.

The Shankaracharya also advised the churches in India against using Hindu religious words, phrases and symbols like Veda, Agama, Rishi, Ashrama and Om, as an “inculturation” tactic to deceive vulnerable sections of people targeted for religious conversion. He also urged the Indian Government to look into the reported efforts by some churches to script a new bible for new converts by usurping sections of sacred Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas and incorporating them into the Bible.

2) Interfaith Dialogue @ Mumbai - Press briefing by Kanchi Acharya

HH Sri Kanchi Sankaracharia’s briefing on June 12,2009

1. Exactly one month ago to the date, the Pope went to Jerusalem where Jesus was born, for a similar dialogue that the Vatican had undertaken with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. At the end of that meeting when the Pope and Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzer jointly addressed the Press and Media, the Chief Rabbi thanked the Pope for assuring the Chief Rabbinate that the Catholic Church would desist and cease from all missionary and conversion activities among the Jews. This is construed as endorsed and agreed by the Pope since he was present in the press meet. We need a similar commitment from the Church for Hindus.

2. After such inter-faith meetings, the points agreed have to be faithfully abided. Otherwise there will be no point in holding such meetings. Unless the Church reassures Hindus that it will not conduct itself in a manner that wounds Hindu sensibilities and follows up on those assurances, such inter-faith meetings, no matter how frequently they are held will be futile and will not serve any meaningful cause.

3. In 1999, Pope Johan Paul II had stated that the mission of the Vatican was to plant the Cross in Asia in the third millennium to facilitate the Christianizing of the world which alone would cause the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The Pope must tell us the rationale for the First Coming of Jesus Christ when there was no Christianity or the Church to undertake the mission to Christianize the world.

4. We see the USCIRF (US Commission on International Religious Freedom) as an intrusive mechanism of a foreign government to interfere in the internal affairs of this country. The USCIRF which has been permitted to visit this country to hold meetings with our people to ascertain religious freedom in our country must no longer be permitted to enter this country on this intrusive mission. We will not allow external interference into our internal affairs.

5. We know that very large amounts of money come into this country for Churches and Christian groups, ostensibly for charitable work. These funds should be used only for social causes like health, education etc and should not be used for religious conversion. During these dialogues, it should be agreed that the funds should be distributed to all Organisations who do charitable work irrespective of the organisations’ religious faith. A common pool should be created and a Committee formed to distribute and monitor the usage of these funds.

6. It has become easy for the Missionaries to convert Hindus. All Hindu Organisations and Associations should work together to educate Hindus and eradicate the conversion activity.

7. Hindu dharma is by nature diverse and so all different panthas and sampradayas co-exist on this bhumi without seeking to destroy the others. Hindu dharma has nurtured and supported all faiths and religions because that is the way of dharma. We expect that religions which have come into this bhumi from other lands will respect this vital characteristic of Hindu dharma and not do anything to subvert or disturb the sense of nationhood of this country. Hindu dharma and the Hindu people welcome Christians and Muslims, Parsis and Jews to make this land their home. We expect from these religions that they will not seek to destroy our faith, our religion and wound our religious sensibilities. We encourage all religions to live with mutual respect and harmony in a shared sense of nationalism which should bind us all as one nation. Nationalism should come first.

8. We are aware of the preaching that they will cure diseases and ailments if the individual converts to their faith. This is illegal as per the DRUGS AND MAGIC REMEDIES ACT 1954.

9. Most of the countries in the world (USA, UK, Japan, Middle-east nations, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc.), adopt national resolutions and statements of intent proclaimed by their governments and their tallest religious bodies affirming their determination to protect and defend the culture and the religion from which their cultures derive. In India alone we pass resolutions which officially and legally promote an irreligious and unspiritual creed called secularism. Secularism is an administrative quality; it cannot be the soul of this nation. The soul of this nation is religious and spiritual. We call upon our government and other important religious bodies to recognize this truth and affirm their commitment to protect the soul of this nation.

10. The Buddhist Mahasangha and the Joint Committee of Buddhist Organizations have declared its intention to get the Sri Lankan government to pilot and pass a national anti-conversion Bill and make it law. We welcome this move and strongly endorse this measure.

11. The Church in India must stop forthwith the use of Hindu religious words, phrases and symbols like Veda, Agama, Rishi, Ashrama, Om and other such in what is referred to as ‘inculturation’ tactics but which are only intended to deceive the vulnerable sections of our people who are the intended targets for religious conversion. This is also insulting to and wounding the religious sensitivities of Hindus. Similarly it has been brought to our notice that some churches are scripting a new Bible for the new converts by usurping sections of our sacred Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas and incorporating them into the Bible. This must stop immediately and all such Bibles must be withdrawn from circulation. We urge the Indian government to look into the issue and do the needful.

NCERT textbooks teach distorted history!

Spread The Word

Please also read "Distortion of Indian History for Muslim appeasement".
=============================================================================
Like Mr. Chandan Mitra pointed out in his editorial column "The purpose of history" that NCERT is now SCERT i.e. Secular Council for Educational Research and Training. They will deride, debase and defame anything Hindu in the name of Nehruvian-Leftist Secularism even if it means celebrating mass murders, forced converters, persecutors, rapists, bandits and Hindu temple razers Mughals.
In the school curriculum of students the subject of history is such that it is of hardly any use to them in their higher studies like engineering, medicine etc. Even then this subject is compulsory for all school students. This is because they receive inspiration from the history throughout their life ahead and some of them who are inspired in such manner become involved in a mission which would re-write the history. Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj was told the histories of Lord Ram and Lord Krushna by his mother Jijau which inspired him to create the history of Hindavi Swarajya under the very nose of Mughal emperors. Unfortunately today the current government is bent on proving Lord Ram and Lord Krushna as fictitious personalities which has almost wiped out the possibility of deriving such inspiration. What is more, it has become obvious that the NCERT( National Council for Educational Research and Training) which plans the central curriculum has made arrangements in such a fashion that the coming generation should not get any inspiration. Before this the same council had called such revolutionaries as Bhagatsingh, Rajguru, Khudiram Bose etc as ‘Extremists’. At that time they had made changes in the curriculum after many agitations. Now the same council has started its efforts of omitting our national heroes such as Shivaji Maharaj, Maharana Pratap who were involved in fighting against the invaders of our nation from the curriculum. However the council has glorified the histories of the British and Mughals. This has created a doubt in the minds of us general people that whether this council is acting as an agent of foreigners. Some time back there were news about the teaching of anti-Hindustan history in Pakistan. By reading the following matter it is very likely that one may get a suspicion whether this NCERT which is an undertaking of our central government is inspired by them.

The distortion of history in the history text-book ‘ Hamare Ateet-2’ meant for 7th Standard

In the history textbook ‘ Hamare Ateet-2’ meant for 7th standard there is glorification of such immensely cruel Mughal kings who had committed rampant atrocities on Hindus and who had destroyed their temples and inflicted them such taxation as jiziya. About 60 pages have been devoted to the history of these Mughal kings who made the Hindus slaves while only five lines are given for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who fought with the Mughals and liberated Hindus from their slavery! The surprising part is that even a single photo of Chatrapati Shivaji was not available to council while those of Babar and his descendants starting from 1526 AD were easily available for them for printing in this textbook! Thus this educational council has tried to bring a dirty politics of appeasement even in the educational sector.

In the third lesson of this text-book named ‘The Sultans of Delhi’ there is detailed description of Delhi’s sultans, the expansion of sultan regime and lineage of Allauddin Khilji and Muhamad Tughlak spread over 15 pages. Again in the ninth lesson named ‘ Mughal Empire’ 15 pages are spared for desription of Mughal army and their kings like Babar, Akbar, Humayun, Jehangir and Aurangjeb. Further there is description of extension of Akbar’s regime. In the 5th lesson titled ‘ Rulers and Buldings’ 15 pages are devoted to descriptions of Kutub Minar, Kuwwat Al-Islam Mosque of Delhi , Makka, Makbara of Humayun, the throne of ‘ Diwan-e-Aam’ at Delhi and Taj Mahal. In the tenth chapter named ‘The political situation in eighteenth century’ most of the pages are spent on information about the borders of Mughal Empire, the invasion by Nadir Shah, Nijam, Burhan-ul –Mulk, Aliwardi Khan etc.

In a situation when the Muslim rulers had created an environment of anarchy and the Maratha Sardars( military officers) were content with serving the Mughals and earning land revenues, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fought with these regimes, established a separate ‘ Hindavi Swarajya’ and thus assured the common man. However in this textbook it is just mentioned as ‘local government’. Is it not our enfeeblement? The council has obtained the photographs of atrocious, tyrannical Muslim kings starting from 700 A.D. but could not print the photograph of valorous Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj because of whom this nation is alive today. The place for the photograph is left blank. Why is this extreme form of hatred?

In this text only half a page has been spent on describing regime of Rajputs. Even there also the mention of Raja Jaysingh who had accepted the rule of Mughals is made; but no mention at all of Rana Pratap who had sacrificed the leisure of royal palace and used to sleep on the grass like ordinary people! Why is this discrimination?

Understand the serious consequences of such purposefully written history!

Had Shivaji Maharaj born in Europe, one entire text would have been written on him. What is the need of telling students about how a mosque was built, what is the direction of Kaba in a book of history? Just imagine what impression must have been created in the minds lakhs of Hindu students when you look at the total inclination of this textbook which has created a picture of how the Muslim rule is dominating us for a long period and how their culture is the primary culture here. Would they ever be able to know the real history of our mighty kings who always fought for Dharma without caring for their lives, who sacrificed everything for the happiness of their people and were staunchly adherent to the values?

At the same time we are also scared that in the coming years would our next generation be taught such history where Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussain and Dawood Ibrahim would be projected as mighty men?

Prior to this the change in curriculum used to receive widespread protests as ‘saffronisation of education’. Now when you look at the present situation, one wonders as to who is the mastermind behind all this. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is launching statewide agitation on Shiv Jayanti Day that is on 13th March 2009 against the government which is remaining inactive and hence in a way supportive of such curriculum which is purposely ignoring our religion, our culture, our kings and our revolutionaries. Please remember the debt we have towards Shivaji Maharaj for the infinite favours he has done to us and consider it as a duty to participate in the agitation launched by HJS!

Convert Asia next: The Pope lets down secularists

Spread The Word

Christian Missionary's radical activities against Hindus in India

Yvette Rosser's letters to National Public Radio
During NPR's Morning Edition broadcast on Friday, November 5th, 1999, there were three separate pieces about the Pope's journey to India, including a short news flash, repeated several times, informing us that the Pope, whose three day visit is meant to "strengthen cooperation among religions" was facing protests from Hindu extremists. This ominous news flash, on the Morning Edition loop, alerted the listeners more than once that fanatical Hindu fundamentalists are protesting the Pontiff's good will tour. One journalist, Vir Singh, explained that Hindus are demanding the Pope apologize for centuries of "forced conversions," though neither he, not any other newsperson covering the story thought it necessary to discuss the basis of these demands.

The piece by Michael Sullivan, the NPR correspondent in New Delhi was sensationalist and could have been written by Pat Robertson who is a dedicated and seasoned Hindu-basher. There was an interview with nuns who fear that, after the Pope's visit, they will be "targeted" by the threatening Hindus who have set fire to Christian schools from "village to village." And an interview with a Hindu fundamentalist vowing to forcibly reconvert local tribals who had recently become Christians--he is described as sitting under, of all things, a poster of Krishna.

-------deleted--------

However, according to these inflammatory reports from NPR it is obvious that Christianity is in grave danger in Hindu India, where fanatical Hindus rule. In the last couple of years there have been conflicts between members of hard-line Hindu groups and Christian missionaries in the Dangs region of Gujarat, as well as the tragic attack in Orissa on the Australian missionary and his sons. Violence is *never* to be condoned. However, these incidents are inevitably reported from not only a Christic-centric perspective, but with an anti-Indian slant, and with no reference to the politics of conversions in the Subcontinent. Conversions are part and parcel of the Christian worldview. . . negatively appraising missionary activities is nonsequitor.

One notable example of this slanted journalism can be recalled in the coverage of the rape of several Christian nuns in Madhya Pradesh last spring. The international media immediately picked up on the story, reporting with the same anti-Hindu bias that was evident in NPR's pieces on Friday morning. In the case in Madhya Pradesh, a subsequent criminal investigation found that the nuns had been raped by men from a rival Christian group, not by Hindus, as originally reported. There was, of course, no international media attention to this interesting fact. . . when Hindus attack Christians it is news but when Christians attach each other it is rather boring. (This may be a weak critique since the press is notorious for reporting sensational crimes and ignoring acquittals.)

In the Dangs region of rural Gujarat, a large portion of the inhabitants are Adivasis or tribals. There has, over the last few decades, been a concerted effort by evangelical Christian groups to convert the Adivasis in this area. Many unethical methods have been used to save the souls of these simple rural folk. One tactic is to throw a stone statue of the Hindu God Hanuman in a pond along with a wooden crucifix. The Adivasis are told that the Christian God is more powerful because he floats to the top and Hanuman sinks to the bottom. Adivasis and others, are offered free tuition at the Christian schools and free medical care at the hospitals, if they convert. These schools and hospitals, funded by donations from Christian organizations abroad, certainly offer important services in an impoverished remote area. However, it is the mocking derogatory rhetoric that accompanies Christian conversion propaganda which is disturbing to many Hindus.

If you have ever seen one of Pat Robertson's anti-Hindu television programs, and for that matter, they are anti-Buddhist as well, you will know the demeaning and disrespectful way in which Hindu and Buddhist traditions and beliefs are treated in fundamentalist Christian rhetoric - where Hindus are described as superstitious pagans who worship demons. Since the 16th century, the work of the innumerable groups of Christian missionaries seeking to convert the heathen Hindus has cost the equivalent of billions upon billions of dollars. I remember in Sunday School at my grandparents' Baptist Church there were special collections to raise money to help the missionaries in India bring the message of Jesus to the pagan Hindus. In my own Catechism class we were told that Hindus must unfortunately go to hell because they do not accept Jesus as the only God. The Christian West has been fed on a steady diet of anti-Hindu rhetoric for over three hundred years. It is no wonder that NPR can conjure up Hindu extremists who are burning and pillaging in connivance with the Hindu nationalist government, without feeling any responsibility to discuss the basic assumptions inherent in missionary activity.

---------deleted----------

It is interesting to note that the Vatican requested permission for the Pope to visit China, Bangladesh, Taiwan and Sri Lanka on his Asian tour, but they refused. It was Hindu majority India, it the grips of the Hindu nationalist government, that allowed the Papal visit. The Pope was not there to honor the traditions of the "East" he came to launch his new activities that aim at the evangelization of Asia. Those Hindu zealots in New Delhi allowed him to do so. In fact, India is one of the few countries that recognizes the Pope as a head of state. The United States and most Western countries recognize the Pope only as a religious leader. The Pope did not go to India as a political leader but as a religious leader. The Catholic Church has a long and self-proclaimed policy of evangelization or conversion and a special Asia synod to convert Asia. The Pope came to convert Hindus, not to show respect to an ancient and rich civilization. He was on a mission from God to bring more Hindu souls to Christ. He was not on a Dharmic Yatra visiting the ancient Tirthas.

There is also, as usual, a socio-political aspect to the Pope's desire to convert Asia. The Catholic Church has lost most of its power in the West. In general, Catholics are only nominal in their beliefs, with many American Catholics practicing birth control, getting divorced and then, with a convenient annulment, remarried--all these practices are banned by the Church in Rome. Most, though philosophically connected with their Catholic roots, don't attend church on a regular basis. It is significant that the average age of priests and nuns is about sixty and few younger people joining the orders. It is clearly an institution in decline. Without replenishing its population base it is facing a severe crisis. India offers perhaps the best possibility for doing this with a large population with a history of religious devotion and monastic activity that could readily become priests and nuns.

Cabbages & Kings: The Pope lets down secularists by V.P. Bhatia, Organiser Volume LI, No. 17 on November 21, 1999
By brazenly proclaiming India as the launching pad for Christianity in Asia, the Pope has exposed himself as a Wolf in Sheep's clothing.

"HE CAME, HE SAW, HE CONQUERED the secular State". Or at least so he imagined. This should be the apt description of the last week's imperialist invasion of India by the Roman Catholic Supremo who heads a totalitarian organisation as bigoted and insidious as the once mighty Soviet Union, which is supposed to have disintegrated by the crusading buffeting of the Polish pontiff himself. It is another matter, that he proved to the hilt the VHP charges regarding the contents of the 140-page offensive agenda presented to his slavish frock at St. Thomas' Cathedral in New Delhi on Saturday, November 6.

In any case, taking full advantage of the customary hospitality due to the head of a state, the puffed up religious crusader lost no time in casting off his deceptive mask and went ahead with his real business of exhorting his flock in unambiguous strident tones to get ready to wage a decisive war of conversions on the Asian people. Which made most thinking people wonder why at all he was permitted to make secular India a launching pad for his offensive campaign of establishing Christian hegemony over the native faiths of Asia. Or, why in God's name was he allowed to hold the concluding session of the Asian Synod of Bishops from the Indian soil. For, that was the real Unsecular aim for which he chose to come here.

Abuse of Indian hospitality

His evangelical offensive was of course accompanied by left-handed compliments to Indian tolerance and condescending character certificates to Indian secularism, valid only so long as the Indian soft state facilitates his mission of undermining itself by allowing the missionary predators to carry on the old heinous game of preying on its unwary populace.

Obviously, the Pope's religious regalia and the panoply and the attendant deceptive noises of promoting peace and amity through religious dialogue did disarm a section of the media, experts in ever-obliging and soft pedalling all anti-Hindu causes, so that some of them were too motivated or confused to call a spade a spade. But the Popish militancy was so overt in emphasising the supreme evangelical mission even by branding the new millenium as the millenium of Christian conquest of Asia, that some of them did perforce report a mailed warrior behind the lily white cassock, a veritable wolf in sheep's clothing. As The Statesman's headline put it, "Conversion is a basic Christian tenet", said the Pope, as he even went to the extent of appealing for unity of all Christian sects to achieve this object.

Take a few other newspaper headlines of November 7 which did report the Pope's true intent while some unsuccessfully tried to put a gloss over his anti-secular thrust under a secular veneer, to cover up their embarrassment at the Pope's shock therapy to perfidious secularists.

"Spread Christianity in Asia" said a frontpage headline of The Pioneer, reporting the Pope's blunt message. "Affirming superiority of the Christian faith, the Vatican head asked the Bishops in India to spread Christianity across Asia even as he demanded that freedom of belief and worship be respected everywhere in the continent", said the body of the same paper's report. Of course, he had China and Taiwan in mind who had refused to let him in to broadcast the sinister message. The Indian Express made up for its lukewarm report about the Pope's between the lines message by a powerful editorial two days later (November 9) entitled "Christ in Asia--Motivated dialogue is no dialogue Your Holiness".

Secularist Chicanery

The Asian Age had a rather more pointed report elaborating its banner headline of "CONVERT ASIA NEXT : POPE". However, while the Muslim editor of the same paper went on to peddle learned arguments in defence of individual conversion in his Sunday column in the same issue, in an editorial two days later, it excelled its part record in pouring vicious abuse on the saffron brigade to hide its discomfiture and frustration at the fact that the Pope had destroyed the secular argument that not the Hindus but the Christians had been at the receiving end in India since Vasco da Gama's days. This while even the body of the front page report on this Popish Plot said : "Evangelism had to be an absolute priority for the church in Asia, the Pope said."

Obviously, such secularists consider mass missionary invasions for mass conversion as an individual human right. Whereas the Vatican sermon from the land of Machiavelli, beats even the most dare-devil, hard-boiled politicians in chicanery. As even the Hindustan Times recognised that the Pope had been insensitive to Indian sentiments by viewing to reap the harvest of faith. The fall-out, as the Star TV commentator said, is bound to be highly controversial.

IN ANY CASE, the most disconcerting feature of the Pope Paul II's recent, Diwali-eve visit to India has been to reveal the enormous clout that the foreign missionary class of the miniscule Christian community enjoys over our ultra-secular State even after the departure of the Christian-British rulers. It is obvious that the Pope's imperial-style visit was planned to coincide with the expected defeat of Vajpayee Government and installation of Vatican transplant Sonia Gandhi after the polls. It is another matter that the conspiracy went awry, despite the unprecedented hate campaign against BJP, joined in by all the overt and covert anti-Hindutva forces with massive input by the secularist media.

Arrogant Bishops

Thus while the imperious Pope proclaimed the Christian right to conversion from the country's capital itself, there were quite a few other assertions of an arrogant and impudent stance of the highly organised totalitarian Roman Catholic Church's big and small fry towards the BJP-led dispensation at the Centre. This was pointed out at a Star TV panel discussion which included a Christian bishop, a VHP leader and the Union Minister, Shri R. Kumaramangalam.

Kumaramangalam, in fact, had to pull up the bishop, flaunting a white frock of his religious order, for the latter's sarcastic reference to Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. Another sarcastic remark reported in Indian Express and India Today was made in full media view by the Archbishop of Delhi who mimicked Advani while reporting to the press his meeting with the Home Minister.

In the Star TV discussion Kumaramangalam had in fact to warn the Bishop not to go too far in deriding the Hindus' anti-conversion concern or to scoff at it as some of the bishop's co-religionists had been doing even in Parliament. For such provocative bid to assert their special claim to superior fundamental right of conversion through social service in selected poverty-ridden areas could lead to more severe backlash. This appalling poverty, incidentally, is a consequence of two pre-1947 predatory imperialisms--the Islamic and the British--followed by the post-independence dynastic one founded by Jawaharlal Nehru, aptly nicknamed as the Last Viceroy of India.

However, the tragedy is that even after independence, the British type of secularism, which while professing a neutral attitude towards all religious communities, exposed its heavy tilt towards the minorities, still reigns supreme. As everybody knows, this British tilt had horrendous consequences, culminating inevitably in the Partition of the hoary country. The irony is that it continues to play havoc even in the post-Partition.

British policy of making North-East special preserve of Christian missionaries continued by Pt. Nehru

IN HIS celebrated book India--From Curzon to Nehru (Collins, 1969) embodying memoirs of 50 years of his pioneering journalistic work and intimate contacts with almost all leaders of the freedom movement, including Jinnah and the British Viceroys, the late Durga Das, a former editor of The Hindustan Times makes two significant observations throwing a flood of light on the insidious nature of Christian missionary activities and their powerful clout in India both before and after independence in India.

The first relates to the stormy year of 1942 after the Cripps mission had failed to enlist the Congress support to set up a national government in lieu of its active cooperation in the war effort, as the Japanese were virtually knocking at the gates of India.

Consequently, one of the various formulas advanced for the breakup of India trotted out at that time to punish the Hindu Congress was that of Sir Reginald Coupland, a Professor of Oxford University who had spent the winter of 1941-42 in India at the instance of the die-hard Tory establishment and was later attached to Cripps Mission as unofficial adviser in March 1942.

Coupland's ingenious scheme consisted of break-up of the country into four broad geographical regions: the Indus basin, the Gangetic basin, the delta of Brahmaputra and the Deccan. Two of these were to have Hindu majority and two Muslim majority. The princely states were to have either a separate single dominion or several dominions of viable units. However, as Durga Das puts it,

"It is interesting to note that Coupland wanted a statutory guarantee for the continuance of the work of the Christian missions in the hill tracts of Assam (constituting present Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram etc. which were all part of Assam at that time)." This stipulation, says Durga Das, "lends weight to the suspicion that the present day movement for independence among a section of the Nagas and Mizos on the Assam borders is inspired by the missionaries". (P. 207)

The second observation in this context relates to Pt Nehru's continuation of the licence given to the missionaries by the British in framing of the Constitution of India. Says the eminent know-all journalist who was permitted daily evening meetings with Sardar Patel and weekly ones with Maulana Azad to exchange information, in this context :

"The Constitution-makers swept under the carpet the important matter relating to the scheduled tribes in the Assam hills in the North-east. They adopted a formula virtually placing the region outside the pale of normal union laws and administrative apparatus. Nehru did this on the advice of Christian missionaries. His colleagues in the top echelons let it pass, treating the matter, in the words of Maulana Azad, as a Nehru fad."

Thus like in Kashmir, Pt Nehru laid the foundation of secessionism in the North-east as well, by his pronounced pro-minority tilt at the cost of the national interests handed down by the British-brand of secularism.
Pope's Fundamentalist Agenda by N.S. Rajaram, Organiser Volume LI, No. 17 on November 21, 1999
Vatican remains intransigent while the Indian intelligentsia is not yet mature enough to face issues squarely

The Godman of Rome

The Godman of Rome, who styles himself as the Holy Father, Vicar of Christ, Pontifex Maximums and so on and so forth, but better known as Pope John Paul II, came to India and went. His Holy Mass on amavasya (dark moon) was also symbolic of its message of medieval darkness, seething with intolerance and doublespeak, more of which later. His speech--read from a written text--was an exercise in inspired incoherence.

The conduct of the media was along predictable lines. The same people who clamoured for the Government to disown "fundamentalist" organisations like the VHP and the RSS did not see it fit to comment on the impropriety of extending a royal welcome to the chief of a fundamentalist religious organisation like the Vatican. The media by and large ignored the message of the Asian Bishops Synod--that the Church remains as intransigent as ever as regards its main agenda, which is aggressive conversion activities in Asia. The synod report repeated verbatim the famous--or infamous--words of the previous Asian synod: "A great new harvest of faith will be reaped in this vast and vital continent." The attitude of the Indian intelligentsia may be summed up : "The Vatican is a western institution and the Pope is is a westerner. We as Indians have no right either to criticize them or question their behavior. Our sole duty is to bow to him as our superior.

The message

As far as the papal visit itself, what promised to be a bang ended in whimper. While we should be grateful to the Holy Father for demonstrating the aptness of Napoleons dictum--"From the sublime to the ridiculous is but one step", there is also a sinister side to the story. His spokesmen were intransigent, even insolent. There was no dilution of the Churchs fundamental claim that salvation is possible only through Jesus. To go with this, people who demanded a retraction of this absurdity were dubbed as fundamentalists, even by the largely secular western media. This shows that the secular-humanist west still views fundamentalism through Christian eyes. Although it might deride and reject Christian fundamentalism at home, when it comes to non-Christian countries, it views opposition to Christian aggression as fundamentalist. As a result, it sees the aspiration of the Hindus in their own country as fundamentalist. This suggests that the west has not yet grown out of tis colonial and sometimes racist mindset.

Pope’s apology of an apology by R.C. Batura, The Organiser on April 23, 2000
----------deleted--------

When he came to India in October 1999, Hindu leaders had asked for the Pope’s apology for atrocities committed by Catholics in India, especially the burning of alleged heretics by the Inquisition in Goa. But the Pope did not oblige. His aides and the local bishops had argued how far the Church could go back in the past. But, now, the Vatican has gone back right to the beginning of Christianity in order to placate the Jews and to a lesser extent the Muslims.

The, third-and by far the most important reason-is the Vatican’s ambitious programme of mass conversion during the third millennium, described by the Pope himself as the “great harvest of faith” in Asia, having already Christianised the. Americas and Africa in the first and second millenniums. In their zeal to Convert, the Christian hordes had destroyed whole races and tribes. Lakhs of Incas and Mayas in America were killed destroying their race. Innumerable Jews and Muslims were exterminated to secure the domination of the Christian gospel. Colonisation of Africa and Asia by European Christian invaders came handy to effect conversions through force, fraud, lurement and faith-healing. Interestingly this faith-healing continues till to-day. In a move with echoes of the Roman Catholic Church’s past, the Pope had on November 28, 1999, issued a Papal Bull reviving on a grand scale the practice of granting indulgences.

-----------deleted----------

Alessandra Stanley of the New York Times Service has pointed out: “The Pope has repeatedly said that the new evangelisation he is calling for in the third millennium can only take place after what he has described as a Churchwide ‘purification of memory’ His effort to cleanse his Church’s conscience for the new millennium has already drawn criticism, but it is almost certain to deeply mark his legacy.

But it cannot really cover its dark spots. They show up now and then. In a message to the Christian community in Kerala, a Church pamphlet issued on 1-2-1999, called upon the Christian community thus:

“Our goal (is) to make Christian(ity) a global religion. We should have Christians as highest population in world. Our target is to convert 50,000 Indians every week into Christianity. Those who is helping in conversion can get full support of international community in terms of money and facility. We can give you any amount of dollars & pounds if you do good work for Christianity...’ Provide free Education, food, medicine, clothes and financial help, which Indian Government is not able to do. We are collecting money from all over, from the donors to help missionaries and motivate them by giving them good financial status and facilities. Rural and semi-urban places in India do not have good schools and institutions except low-rated government schools where medium of instruction is local language, and people badly in need of good schools and English medium are helpless. In such places our missionaries have good share and patronage of Christian schools and institutions from Indians. At such point we can exploit our target of making thousands of Christians. We can convert lot of Indian population into Christianity by individual canvassing, by reaching every house and telling message of Christ, who can solve any problem of a person. Since all Hindu gods are popularly known as devils and a little educated or illiterate persons can easily accept our modem religion where life is taboo-free and more luxurious. Youth in India is very much after easy money, more luxury in life, good education. Taboo-free life (e.g. social mix-up, easy interaction with opposite sex, dance parties which is difficult in Indian religions) So we can easily convert them and take their help to make our mission come true. Do support us and our mission and we will help with any kind of assistance required. Jesus gives us everything.”

It is clear from the foregoing account that the Church’s objective of securing conversions by hook or crook has not changed. The only change is in its face. If the dagger was in the forefront in the past, lurement through material benefits like education, health and money are maim weapons today. it is only a change of tactics, not of heart and attitude. The target still is to turn the whole world into Christendom.

During his tour of India, the Pope had called conversion a human right forgetting that hardly any conversion is strictly religious in content. Most of the conversions are not even socio-religious. They are socioeconomic at best. Evangelists led by Pope wrongly call them the spread of faith because that is how their business of religion is Christened. And the Church has no plans to dismantle this business.

Brazil's Indians Offended by Pope Comments by Raymond Colitt, washingtonpost.com

Pope stirs up India by Christian Century on November 17, 1999
A CALL BY Pope John Paul II, made during his three-day visit to New Delhi, for the evangelization of Asia has provoked mixed reactions in India. A prominent Hindu nationalist has accused the pope of abusing "the hospitality that India has extended to him" and of planning to try to convert India to Christianity. At the same time, Asian church leaders have played down the pope's calls for such evangelization.

The issues of evangelization and religious freedom are particularly sensitive in India which in recent months has seen a number of attacks against Christians, who Hindu nationalists claim are engaging in forced conversions and offering material inducements for people to convert to Christianity.

Several bishops who attended the ceremonies in New Delhi said they were "stunned" by headlines such as that in the Asian Age, which bannered a report of the papal visit, "Convert Asia Next: Pope."

However, Rajender Chadha, spokesman for a section of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a prominent Hindu nationalist group, criticized the pope's call for religious freedom. "The pope has abused the hospitality India extended to him. He should not have said it," Chadha said, according to the Press Trust of India, the country's main news agency. In Chadha's view, the pope had confirmed fears that the Catholic Church has "grand plans to convert India into a Christian country."

Pointing out that Christians in Asia, where Jesus was born, died and was resurrected, are comparatively small in number, the pope predicted that the third millennium will mark the evangelization of Asia.

In Milan a prominent daily paper, Corriere della Sera, referred to the controversy over conversions to Christianity and quoted a leading Hindu, Swami Dayananda Saraswati: "With the Second Vatican Council the Catholic Church recognized the validity of other religions, but only as means to prepare for Christ. This worries millions of Hindus, because it implies a theology of conversion [to Christianity]."
Christian conversion in Buddhist Sri Lanka by Kamalika Pieris

Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing

Christian conversion in Buddhist Sri Lanka
The Ecumenical Council of Vatican II (1962-1965) set the Catholic Church on a revised path towards conversion. There were regional synods. The Synod for the Bishops of Asia was held in Rome in 1998. The term "Asia" included in this case, Middle East, Gulf States, South and Central Asia, South East Asia, Asian Siberia and the Far East. It was argued that Christianity was now a part of Asian culture. It was now Asian in outlook and sufficiently indigenised to become genuinely Asian. The policy drawn up by this Asian Synod was proclaimed by the Pope in November 1999 in New Delhi, India. It contained a specific call to the Catholics to convert Asians to Christianity. It stated that Europe went Christian in the first millennium. America and Africa went Christian in the second millennium. Now it was the turn of Asia. One newspaper summarised this as "Convert Asia next." The Catholic Church also noted, inter alia, that Asia was a paradise for foreign investment. China was fast becoming a world super power with India trailing behind (Daily News, 9.11.99 p 10, Hindustan Times, 7.11.99 p5, Fr. Leopold Ratnasekera, Island, 22.3.98 p 12).

Falsifying history for political gain
Misleading textbooks fail to inculcate nationalism in students

The UPA has succeeded in persuading more state governments to accept the NCERT texts. A report on Monday (January 5, 2005) said 12 more state governments have accepted to teach NCERT texts in their schools.

Starting this week the Organiser is planning a series of articles on the NCERT textbooks prescribed for students at the primary, secondary and higher secondary schools. We have found these books written with a peculiar mindset, to denationalise and deculturise the young Indian. These books fail to make the children aware of their true heritage. These books seem to distort even India's freedom struggle, Mahatma Gandhi's role and try to divide the society into different caste and class segments. The idea is to convince the children that India as a nation came to exist only after August 15, 1947. We request the parents, teachers, students and scholars to join this academic exercise to expose the shenanigans behind promotion of these books in Indian schools. —Editor By Himanshu Shekhar Jha

What is most objectionable is the fact that while disusing the authorship of the Mahabharata the name of its sole and true writer Krishna Dwaipayana Vyas has not been mentioned even once. Instead of telling the students the universally accepted truth that the great saint and renowned scholar Krishna Dwaipayana Vyas has composed the excellent epic the Mahabharata, the NCERT textbook in so-called history misleads them by saying that it was written by charioteer-bards who composed poems celebrating victories and other achievements of the warriors.

The school children are being taught that the writing of the Mahabharata started only 500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ and it took 1,000 years to complete it.

The NCERT Syllabi particularly those which are related to history and political theory taught in secondary schools in the country bear eloquent testimony to the fact that the UPA government is out to destroy Hindu dharma and culture. It was this government under whose patronage Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had inaugurated the Sethusamundram Ship Canal Project at Madurai in Tamil Nadu on July 2, 2005 which is posing a danger of the destruction of historical national monument—Ram Sethu—which had been constructed by Nala, the greatest architect of India in Treta Yuga at the command of Sri Rama while preparing to wage a war with Ravana to rescue Sita. Despite overwhelming evidences both historical and geographical the Expert Committee appointed by the UPA government recently said that Ram Sethu is not a national monument and virtually made no effective effort to bring it on the World Heritage List. This is only one instance from amongst the innumerable instances to prove the anti-Hindu and anti-dharma character of the government which is also reflected in its anti-national and perverted educational policy.

It was the same UPA that reportedly introduced sex education curriculum in schools against which several states had made strong protests stating that it contains obscene and objectionable contents which cannot be taught to pupils at schools.

Distortion of historical facts which relate to people’s religion and culture is not only immoral, but also impinges upon their basic right to freedom of faith, relief and conscience.

It is a universally accepted fact that the Holy Vedas are the first and the oldest scripture of the world. But according to the NCERT textbook titled Themes in Indian History, Part-1 the Vedas were written 1500 to 1000 years before the birth of Christ.

It has been clearly mentioned in the Shanti Parva of the Mahabharata (C-339:105) that the Vedas were revealed by God in Satya Yuga. Satya Yuga preceded Treta in which Sri Ram was born and his famous Sethu connecting India with Sri Lanka was built up. According to the NASA shuttle Ram Sethu was built up around 1,750,000 years ago. It is, therefore, obvious that the Vedas must have been composed much earlier than what the NCERT historian falsely claims and propagates.

The brazen lie told about the Holy Vedas has been fabricated about the great epic the Mahabharata too. The school children are taught that the writing of the Mahabharata started only 500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ and it took 1,000 years to complete it.

According to Vaishampayana who had narrated the story of the Mahabharata to the King Janmejaya, it had been written by the powerful, contented and foremost sage Srikrishna Dwaipayana Vyas within a period of three years. The relevant verse in the Mahabharata is as follows:-

Triveryvarsairalabdhakamah Krishan-dwaipayano Munih nityothithah Shuchih Shakto Mahabharatama ditah tapo niyamasthaya Kritametan-maharsina (Adi Parva 62: 41-42).

The NCERT textbook in history shows tendentious ignorance even regarding the number of verses in the Mahabharata. According to it initially this epic compressed about 10,000 verses only which subsequently swelled to 1,000,00 verses. It may be mentioned here that there are 18 divisions of the Mahabharata called Parvas and each Parva except Sauptika Parva, Stri Parva, Mahaprasthanika Parva and Swargarohan Parva—all Parvas contain more than 1,000 verses. The opening section called Adi Parva alone consists of 8,884 verses which counted with the verses of the next section come to 11,395 verses. In view of this fact, what could be the historical basis of stating that initially the Mahabharata had less than 10,000 verses? Even this wrong figure has not been given with certainty as is evident from the word ‘perhaps’ prefixed before it.

What is most objectionable is the fact that while disusing the authorship of the Mahabharata the name of its sole and true writer Krishna Dwaipayana Vyas has not been mentioned even once under the sub-title “Author(s) and Dates”. The word “Vyasa” appears only in the margin. Can there be anything more unlawful and unjust? Instead of telling the students the universally accepted truth that the great saint and renowned scholar Krishna Dwaipayana Vyas has composed the excellent epic the Mahabharata, the NCERT textbook in so-called history misleads them by saying that it was written by charioteer-bards who composed poems celebrating victories and other achievements of the warriors. It may be mentioned here that the bards were generally illiterate persons not well versed in scriptures. Ascribing authorship of the Mahabharata to these persons of little learning is highly derogatory and deserves condemnation.

The Manusmriti is not only the first and foremost book of Hindu law, but is held in high esteem throughout the world as a great scripture. It belongs to pre-historic period but according to the NCERT textbook it was compiled between 200 BCE and 200 CE. Can there be anything more misleading than this? The Manusmriti finds mention in the Gita, which was compiled more than 5000 years before. Even from this point of view the date of the origin of the Manusmriti given in the aforesaid textbook is palpably wrong and ought not to be believed.

The NCERT textbook in history has misinterpreted the word Chandala used in Manusmriti. A Chandala is the one who is extremely cruel by nature and habitually indulges in sinful acts. He, therefore, was required to live outside the village or town, use discarded utensils and don clothes of the dead and do such other degrading duties. Had the great sage Manu mandated the banishment of a Shudra from the village or town in the like manner as contemplated by the said textbook in Indian history, he could not have said the following:-

“Let the Shudra serve Brahmins alone for gaining heaven or for welfare both in this world and hereafter (Manusmriti 10: 122).

Even the celebrated western scholar Max Muller’s text on Manu has drawn a clear distinction between Shudra and Chandala.

We find a distortion of fact in respect of the Holy Puranas also. The NCERT textbook in question says that many stories in the Puranas were compiled by Brahmins by about the middle of the first millennium CE.

Even details given about Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir are not complete. There is no mention of the famous Eightfold Path carved out by Lord Buddha to bring all sufferings in life to an end. Even the sermon of Lord Mahavir lacks broad historical contours.

The writer of the NCERT textbook in history tries to create a wrong impression in the minds of school children that the whole of the famous book Arthashastra had not been written by Chanakya. The writer shows ignorance even about his name which is crystal clear from the following words:

“Another source that is often used is the Arthashastra, parts of which were probably composed by Kautilya or Chanakya traditionally believed to be the minister of Chandragupta.”

It is abundantly clear that the writer regards Kautilya and Chanakya as two different persons which is not correct. Both the names suggest one and the same persons, i.e. Chanakya. It is on record that Chanakya had written Arthashastra under the name “Kautilya” during 312-296 BC. The said textbook also misleads the students by telling that Chanakya was the minister of Chandragupta whereas the fact is that he was the Prime Minister of the Magadha Empire.

Even the NCERT book on Political Theory prescribed for secondary school students is not free from flaws. In a chapter on Freedom the said text while discussing ban on an objectionable book Ramayana Retold by Aubrey Menon it has been remarked: “Banning is an easy solution for the short term since it meets the immediate demands but it is very harmful for the long-term prospectus of freedom in a society because once one begins to ban then one develops a habit of banning.”

Such observation obviously leads one to infer that the condemnation of the holy book Ramayana ought not to be objected to and the ban should be lifted even if it hurts the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus all over the world.

Another objectionable matter in the said book relates to the issue of national language. Undoubtedly, Hindi should be the national language of our country. The excerpts given from Harijan Sevak in which Gandhi champions the cause of hybrid Hindustani in place of pure Hindi cannot be called commendable.

Inclusion of a passage from Ravindranath Tagore’s writing in the textbook on Political Science is equally objectionable because in it Tagore extols so-called humanity at the cost of patriotism. Tagore has, inter alia, written “Patriotism cannot be our final spiritual shelter, my refuge is humanity.” He goes to the extent of comparing patriotism with ordinary glass and humanity with costly diamonds.

Instead of giving great moral lessons from immortal scriptures the NCERT textbooks teach students to respect a Constitution in whose schedule such evils as gambling, betting and intoxicating drinks have been included.

The sooner such reading materials related to history and social sciences are replaced by noble ideas the better it will be.

Temple City turns Saffron as Sadhus make beeline for Sradhanjali Sabha
-By Anurjay Dhal, Odisha Today on November 14, 2008

Temple City of Bhubaneswar on Friday turned Saffron with hundreds of thousands of Hindu saints and supporters of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati ji gathered here to attend a massive Sradhanjali Sabha here at Lower PMG Square on Saturday.

Swami Laxmananda Saraswati Sradhanjali Sabha is hosting the massive gathering to mount pressure on Orissa Government to nab the killers of late Hindu Seer and four of his disciples, who were shot dead at Jalespata Ashram in riot hit Kandhamal district.

Till last reports came in, more than 100,000 thousand people from across the State and outside have reached the city while others would reach by Saturday morning. A peace meet will be at 8.30 followed by Nama-sankirtan from 10 to 11.30 and then Sradhanjali Sabha at the venue.

The Sabha would demand Narco Test of Congress Rajya Sabha member Radhakant Nayak, Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Archbishop Raphael Cheenath, National Integration Council member John Dayal to find out truth and find out the killers and conspirators. Besides, it would also strongly oppose conversion and cow slaughtering.

The Hindu Rate of Wrath
Francois Gautier
Outlook

Is there such a thing as ‘Hindu terrorism’, as the arrest of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur for the recent Malegaon blasts may tend to prove? Well, I guess I was asked to write this column because I am one of that rare breed of foreign correspondents—a lover of Hindus! A born Frenchman, Catholic-educated and non-Hindu, I do hope I’ll be given some credit for my opinions, which are not the product of my parents’ ideas, my education or my atavism, but garnered from 25 years of reporting in South Asia (for Le Journal de Geneve and Le Figaro).

In the early 1980s, when I started freelancing in south India, doing photo features on kalaripayattu, the Ayyappa festival, or the Ayyanars, I slowly realised that the genius of this country lies in its Hindu ethos, in the true spirituality behind Hinduism.

The average Hindu you meet in a million villages possesses this simple, innate spirituality and accepts your diversity, whether you are Christian or Muslim, Jain or Arab, French or Chinese.

It is this Hinduness that makes the Indian Christian different from, say, a French Christian, or the Indian Muslim unlike a Saudi Muslim.

I also learnt that Hindus not only believed that the divine could manifest itself at different times, under different names, using different scriptures (not to mention the wonderful avatar concept, the perfect answer to 21st century religious strife) but that they had also given refuge to persecuted minorities from across the world - Syrian Christians, Parsis, Jews, Armenians, and today, Tibetans.

In 3,500 years of existence, Hindus have never militarily invaded another country, never tried to impose their religion on others by force or induced conversions.

You cannot find anybody less fundamentalist than a Hindu in the world and it saddens me when I see the Indian and western press equating terrorist groups like SIMI, which blow up innocent civilians, with ordinary, angry Hindus who burn churches without killing anybody.

We know also that most of these communal incidents often involve persons from the same groups—often Dalits and tribals—some of who have converted to Christianity and others not.

However reprehensible the destruction of Babri Masjid, no Muslim was killed in the process; compare this to the ‘vengeance’ bombings of 1993 in Bombay, which wiped out hundreds of innocents, mostly Hindus. Yet the Babri Masjid destruction is often described by journalists as the more horrible act of the two.
We also remember how Sharad Pawar, when he was chief minister of Maharashtra in 1993, lied about a bomb that was supposed to have gone off in a Muslim locality of Bombay.

I have never been politically correct, but have always written what I have discovered while reporting. Let me then be straightforward about this so-called Hindu terror. Hindus, since the first Arab invasions, have been at the receiving end of terrorism, whether it was by Timur, who killed 1,00,000 Hindus in a single day in 1399, or by the Portuguese Inquisition which crucified Brahmins in Goa.

Today, Hindus are still being targeted: there were one million Hindus in the Kashmir valley in 1900; only a few hundred remain, the rest having fled in terror. Blasts after blasts have killed hundreds of innocent Hindus all over India in the last four years. Hindus, the overwhelming majority community of this country, are being made fun of, are despised, are deprived of the most basic facilities for one of their most sacred pilgrimages in Amarnath while their government heavily sponsors the Haj.

They see their brothers and sisters converted to Christianity through inducements and financial traps, see a harmless 84-year-old swami and a sadhvi brutally murdered. Their gods are blasphemed.

So sometimes, enough is enough. At some point, after years or even centuries of submitting like sheep to slaughter, Hindus—whom the Mahatma once gently called cowards—erupt in uncontrolled fury. And it hurts badly. It happened in Gujarat. It happened in Jammu, then in Kandhamal, Mangalore, and Malegaon. It may happen again elsewhere.

What should be understood is that this is a spontaneous revolution on the ground, by ordinary Hindus, without any planning from the political leadership.

Therefore, the BJP, instead of acting embarrassed, should not disown those who choose other means to let their anguished voices be heard.

There are about a billion Hindus, one in every six persons on this planet. They form one of the most successful, law-abiding and integrated communities in the world today. Can you call them terrorists? (The writer is the editor-in-chief of the Paris-based La Revue de l’Inde.)

Radical Islamist Zakir Naik brings out Fake Shankaracharya to lie, cheat, deceive Hindus

Spread The Word

Zakir Naik, the known Anti-Hindu radical Islamist fundamentalist doing what he does the best. To lie, cheat and deceive Hindus to convert to Islam. He does this by hook and crook and by twisting our Shastr and bringing out fake supporters/proponents. A friend forwarded this as to how Zakir Naik brought out some fake guy posing as Shankaracharya who is claiming and propagating false information. Well read it yourself. I have redacted the line with the link to this radical's video.

Hey ~

Check this out. U should report this on your daily blog.

This b@$t@rd Zakir Naik is just getting on my nerves. Kuch jyaada hi fraud-giri kar raha hai h@r@mi.

He brings a fake shankaracharya to praise Islam, says, "Ved ka pura saar" is contained in 1st line of muslim kalma and other rubbish.

I was initially shocked by it when a friend showed it to me yesterday. Of course, real shankaracharya would never say such crap, its a very cunning fake.

This video (read the comments) exposes the fraud.

THE TRUTH:
The pretender Devanand Saraswati is not recognised by the Shankaracharya Matha he claims to represent:
An official representative of that Shankaracharya Matha - Shree Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati - has identified 'Devanand Saraswati' as NOT being a Shankaracharya at all.

The 5 established Shankaracharya Maths with their Jagadguru Shankaracharyas are:
(1)Sringeri: Bharati Teertha Swaminaha
(2)Puri: Neeschalanand Saraswati
(3&4)Shankaracharya of Dwaraka Math, Swaroopanand Saraswati, is also Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath. (He's the ONLY recognised Jagadguru of Jyotirmath. So at all official gatherings of the Shankaracharya Maths, he represents both Dwaraka & Jyotir Maths)
(5)Kanchi (appoints successors early): Jayendra Saraswati & successor Vijayendra Saraswati

Featured Article: Anti-Hindu Congress unmasked in Assam and Ladakh

Spread The Word

Anti-Hindu communal Congress for its short term political gains under despot Antonia Maino is destroying this nations integrity. Hindus have no civil liberties and religious freedom in Bharat because they don't demand it. Very nice article Mr. Vijay.

Fire of discontent from Indus to Brahmaputra by Tarun Vijay
Assam is burning, no government, no leader to console the bereaved, no hope for the future. The Assamese, loyal to the motherland and always willing to live and die for her, feel Delhi's sultans do not consider them a part of the mainstream. They like to enjoy the resources of the Northeast but preserving and protecting the culture and people of the region do not appear to be on their radar of concerns. The Congress government in Guwahati has become a Bangladeshi-controlled apparatus facilitating an unprecedented rise of violent Muslim groups. They are supported by Delhi-based young jihadis who have a better line of command, instruments and a commitment that doesn't fear death. Further, they are shielded by the seculars who attack every step that police and other security agencies take against terror modules. The statements of the terrorist arrested from Jamia bear testimony to this network and a faith regime that allows killings for a happier time in the heavens.

Facing such elements are the forces representing Indian colours, the security personnel, who are less equipped, do not find respected mention in the media; the secular elite control the channels and the administration humiliates them to score their human rights points. The Jamia syndrome works wonderfully to shield terror groups and demoralise security forces. The worst of equipment, administrative corruption, political lechery and compromises make their work all the more difficult. Till today they are not provided good quality bullet-proof jackets; the one they have are the obsolete ones – too heavy at 10 kg-plus and cumbersome.

The ULFA and HuJI in Assam are the direct consequence of the central and state governments' policies that deprived Assam of its due share in retaining revenues generated within the state and failing to ensure that the illegal Bangladeshis were ousted lock, stock and barrel. The Assamese had to wage a war-like agitation to get a small share of the oil explored in the state in form of refineries. Their land has been taken over by the foreigners, they are killed and maimed; yet the government shields every Bangladeshi because they are the votebank it needs to retain power.

When Guwahati was hit by blasts last week, chief minister Tarun Gogoi was busy seeing off Haj pilgrims at the airport. He didn't cut short his visit even after being informed of the blasts as he feared Haj pilgrims would be angry. HuJI and ULFA both opeate from Bangladesh, yet the Indian government hesitates to attack their hideouts and annihilate them to safeguard Indian territory and people.

While the Assamese are fighting a lone battle to save their existence as Indians, so is the case with Ladakhis who have been always in the front ranks to save the territory and honour of their motherland India. The Congress is playing havoc with local aspirations and is making the Buddhist population face the heat of Srinagar's discriminatory policies that may in times to come help strengthen fissiparous tendencies. Hence they are demanding a complete severing of relations with Srinagar and a Union Territory status. They say Srinagar treats them as second grade citizens, discriminates on communal lines, facilitates a demographic change so that the Buddhist population is reduced to a minority. Buddhist youngsters do not find a place in Kashmir's engineering and medical colleges. Even if they qualify in the Kashmir Administration Services, they are rejected in interviews. The Union Territory Front (UTF) that is ruling Leh today under the leadership of Thupstan Chhewang is fighting a battle of the ballot to defeat the Congress in the state assembly elections. Having huge chunks of land with a population density of five persons per sq km, Ladakh is the land which valiantly fought the Chinese in 1962 and produced military leaders like Col. Rinchin. The same people are being made to feel alienated and disillusioned because of votebank politics.

Most of India's border states are increasingly falling under the influence of insurgent movements and terror outfits.

Thou shall not discriminate

Spread The Word

No secular government can indulge in the business of investing taxpayers’ money to build churches.

Thou shall not discriminate

Mr Patil’s confused thinking is apparent when he compares a hospital/school to a church and asserts that as the government repairs and rebuilds the damaged schools/ hospitals it should also rebuild churches.

The UPA government should uphold the Constitution--the Fundamental Right of Equality--it cannot discriminate on the basis of creed. The vote bank politics seem to have blinded the UPA government and is creating havoc.

It is hard to comprehend the stand of the Home Minister in demanding the States to rebuild/repair the churches that were vandalized during the communal riots. He must clarify two things:

  • Does this apply only to Orissa or extend to the whole country?

  • Is this rebuilding demand restricted only when churches are attacked or does it include all places of worship?

  • If this is only in reference to Orissa the question is why should a State government be discriminated against?

  • Any SC advise/Centre order applies to the whole country. If it is applicable only to churches then query is--can a secular government discriminate places of worship and use taxpayers for rebuilding churches?

Mr Patil’s confused thinking is apparent when he compares a hospital/school to a church and asserts that as the government repairs and rebuilds the damaged schools/ hospitals it should also rebuild churches.

There is a vast difference- ideologically, socially and politically between these institutions and by no stretch of one’s imagination can they be placed on the same plane.

No secular government can indulge in the business of investing taxpayers’ money to build churches.

Schools and hospitals come under the government and are maintained by people money. The most significant difference is that the school and the hospital are open to all creed and caste and is not a minority property.

So how the SC can give such an advice and how can the UPA government immediately jump at that and reinforce it.

  • On the same basis will Mr Patil immediately take steps to see that the temples destroyed in J&K are rebuild?

The UPA government should uphold the Constitution--the Fundamental Right of Equality--it cannot discriminate on the basis of creed. The vote bank politics seem to have blinded the UPA government and is creating havoc.

Please also read "Christian Terror: Hindu Temples set on fire in Silchar"

Following are the scanned images (by Deepak Kamat) from the book "Satyadarshini" circulated by Christian Missionaries in Mangalore to denigrate Hindu Religion and Gods. They have used very derogatory and dirty language for Hindu Gods.

Bajrang Dal blames pastor in AP for Karnataka violence

I agree with BJP. Arrest this traitor for openly supporting anti-national terrorists. Couldn't he and these communal parties have waited for Hon'ble courts to give their verdict? Is there any law of the land or not? Or do they think there is some Nizam-e-Mustafa going on? It is high time govt. stops appeasing these traitors. I say take action against the Bajrang dal (which is being made a scapegoat I guess), if at all its involvement is proved, but then Imam Bhukari of Jama Masjid also deserves to be arrested for supporting terrorists and communal Pastors should be arrested for violence and illegal conversions. Why this bias?
